“The way I’ve always been doing things just doesn’t work now.” Relativity Media has debuted a trailer for an indie film titled Violet, which first premiered at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival earlier this year. Violet marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Justine Bateman, who has been working in Hollywood and tells many of her own stories in this film. It is a brutal look at life in the industry, and how shitty so many people can be. But it’s also a brutal look at how shitty we can be to ourselves. Olivia Munn stars as Violet, who realizes her entire life is built on fear-based decisions, and must do things differently to become her true self. The film features Justin Theroux as “the voice” inside of her head, telling her how awful she is. There’s also on-screen text for three layers showing how she’s overwhelmed with anxiety all the time. The cast includes Luke Bracey, Dennis Boutsikaris, Erica Ash, and Zach Gordon.
Tony Award winner Phllipa Soo, Simu Liu and Luke Bracey are set to star in the adaptation of the Taylor Jenkins Reid’s One True Love, with Andy Fickman on board to direct. Taylor Jenkins Reid and Alex Jenkins Reid will adapt the script.
The film tells a moving love story about a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the fiancé who finally has brought her back to life.
Willie Kutner, Andy Fickman, Betsy Sullenger, Michael Jefferson and Sarah Finn are producing with Taylor Jenkins Reid, Alex Jenkins Reid and Adam Beasley executive producing. CAA Media Finance is representing the film’s North American distribution rights.
Bracey next will be seen in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis biopic alongside Tom Hanks and Austin Butler for Warner Bros. He also will lead the Netflix action-thriller Interceptor opposite Elsa Pataky, which will be executive produced by Chris Hemsworth. Most recently, Bracey led Netflix’s original romantic comedy Holidate with Emma Roberts, which took the No. 1 spot on Nielsen’s streaming rankings upon release. He is repped by CAA, Fourward and Goodman Genow Schenkman.

Luke Bracey have signed on to star in Interceptor, an action drama that will be released by Netflix.Matthew Reilly, the Australian action-thriller writer known for books such as Scarecrow and the Army of Thieves, Seven Ancient Wonders, and The Tournament, is on board to direct the feature from a screenplay he wrote with Collateral and Tomorrow, When the War Began screenwriter Stuart Beattie. The film follows an Army lieutenant who must utilize her years of tactical training and military expertise to save humanity when sixteen nuclear missiles are launched at the U.S., and a violent coordinated attack simultaneously threatens her remote missile interceptor station.
“As those people who have read my novels know, I love telling big action stories that are told at a frenetic pace,” said Reilly. “I wanted to bring that kind of rocket-fast, relentless, high-stakes storytelling to film, and so Interceptor was born. Elsa is just perfect as our lead: a strong, independent and determined woman who, in the face of overwhelming odds, just refuses to give up.”
Beattie is producing the project with Matthew Street and Michael Boughen for Ambience Entertainment. Chris Hemsworth, Kathy Morgan, Christopher Mapp, Robert Slaviero, and Peter D. Graves will serve as executive producers. Production is slated to take place in New South Wales, Australia.
